Welcome to DIET, Karkardooma, Delhi

District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) were set up as institutes at the district level after the National Policy of Education, 1986 in approx. 500 districts of India for Universalization of Elementary Education and to improve quality of elementary education. Pre-service Teacher Education and In-service teacher training are the major responsibilities of all DIETs.

DIETs in Delhi are run by the Govt. of Delhi which conduct a two-year Diploma Course in Elementary Teacher Education where most students are Senior Secondary pass outs at entry level, from all streams of +2 education, heterogeneous in terms of culture, language and intellectual level. There are 120 students at DIET, East District, Delhi.
